Las Apps me suenan a Chino | Apps sound like Chinese to me

El último informe del Pew Internet Project revela que 1 de cada 4 Norteamericanos usa aplicaciones en el móvil. Aunque el uso más común del móvil a parte de hablar es hacer fotos (hace apenas unos pocos años los japoneses nos parecían freaks haciendo fotos a Beckham cuando viajaba con el Real Madrid), las aplicaciones suben como la espuma.
Para qué se usan las apps? Juegos, noticias, mapas, redes sociales...y además masivamente (2 de cada 3 las usan a diario). También se paga por ellas, generándose una importante industria de micropagos de altísimo potencial para todo tipo de negocios y contenidos...pensemos en películas, música...etc.
Las marcas se están dando cuenta de ello y están entrando con fuerza como indica el último informe de la iab spain pero el ejemplo que voy a tratar en este post es de cómo se usan en el e-learning de idiomas extranjeros.
Y en este caso veremos tres aplicaciones para aprender Chino.
Antes aprender un idioma como el Chino era impensable. Hace 5 años comenzaban a aparecer páginas tales como www.chinesepod.com o www.chinochina.com que trataban de aprovechar las oportunidades que nuevos avances como los podcasts permitían.
Hoy en día hay múltiples webs y plataformas de pago o no absolutamente fantásticas para aprender chino como www.archchinese.com si bien es cierto que la mayoría son en inglés.
Las especiales características visuales y conceptuales del idioma Chino con sus ideogramas y su muy distinta fonética a la occidental favorecen el uso de técnicas interactivas audiovisuales para su aprendizaje. Es decir que a falta de pasar un par de años en China, nada como internet y el móvil para aprenderlo.
Y entrando en las aplicaciones,  tengo en mi móvil algunas realmente increíbles para aprender Chino (que espero me ayuden esta vez si a aprenderlo!!).

Chinesepod
La aplicación de chinesepod sólo disponible para el iphone si eres usuario registrado premium (pago mensual de algo más de 20€) permite escuchar cientos de lecciones en formato podcast enriquecido, con los diálogos en Chino, pin yin (caracteres occidentales) e inglés, contenidos enriquecidos, vocabulario y muchas otras funciones más. Es una delicia pues una vez te descargas la lección la puedes reproducir donde quieras cuantas veces quieras.

Pleco
Pleco es una aplicación de diccionario Chino-pinyin-Inglés muy potente, fácilmente usable y gratuita, disponible para iphone y ipad. Una vez descargada puedes enriquecerla com módulos de pago y acabar teniendo una potente plataforma de e-learning en tu móvil, pero el diccionario (que uso contínuamente) es gratuito.

Números Chinos
La última aplicación que he seleccionado es números Chinos. Una fantástica herramienta para aprender todo sobre los números Chinos creada por www.trainchinese.com. Está disponible para iphone y ipad y también en Castellano. Tiene juegos y ejercicios muy útiles con los que aprendes muy rápido a contar y usar los números. P.e. una herramienta coje los números de tus contactos del teléfono y te los pasa a números en Chino. Una gran ventaja es que te los lee además de mostrarte los caracteres y el pin yin. Es realmente formidable. Es gratuita, si bien si quieres más de tres juegos al día y ejercicios enriquecidos, has de pagar o ir a su web.

Las apps funcionan y merece la pena pagar por ellas...incluso aprendes Chino!

Last Pew Internet Project 's report reveals that one out of four americans uses mobile apps. Even though the most common use given to the mobile phone apart from voice calls is taking pictures (just a few years ago Japaneese people looked as freaks to us when taking pictures to David Beckham when he travelled with the Real Madrid), apps are boosting dramatically.
And what are apps used for? Games, news, maps, social networking...and massively (2 out of 3 use them daily). Furthermore, we pay for them, creating an important micropayment industry with huge potential for any kind of business and contents...think about films, music...etc.
Brand are noticing it and are entering the market with strengh as the last iab spain 's report unveals but the example I'm going to deal with in this post is how they are used in the e-learning of foreign languages.
In this case we will see the apps to learn Chinese.
Before, learning a language such as Chinese was simply out of our minds. Five years ago pages such as www.chinesepod.com or www.chinochina.com that tried to take as much as possible out of tools such as podcasts sprawned.
Today a miriad of webs and platforms (be them paid or not) such as www.archchinese.com  exist. Truly speaking, most of them are in english.
The special visual and conceptual characteristics of the Chinese language with it's ideograms and it's fonetic completely diferent to any western-like one favours the use of interactive audiovisual tools for it's learning. That is, if you can't spend a couple of years in China, nothing like the internet and mobile devices to learn it
And getting into apps, i've got a bunch of them in my iphone and ipad that are simply amazing (I hope this time they'll make me learn the language at last!).

Chinesepod
The app is only available for iphone if you are a paid premium registered user (about 20€/month). It allows you to listen to hundreds of lessons in podcast enriched format with dialogs in Chinese, pin yin (western characters) and english, access to enhanced contents, vocabulary and other functions. It's delicious since once you download the lesson you can play and study it wherever and whenever you want directly from your iphone.

Pleco
Pleco is a Chinese-pinyin-english dictionary very powerful, with great usability and free, available for iphone and apd. Once downloaded you can enhance it with paid modules and end up having a strong e-learning platform in your mobile...but the dictionary (which i use oftenly) is for free.

Chinese numbers
The last app I have selected is Chinese numbers. A wonderful tool to learn averything about Chinese numbers created by www.trainchinese.com
It's available  for iphone and ipad also in spanish. It's got very useful games and exercises with wich you quickly learn to count and deal with Chinese numbers. I.e a tool takes the phone number in your agenda and translates them into chinese numbers, giving them also in pin-yin and even reading them for you so you can get the pronunciation. It's for free but if you want more than 3 games a day and enhanced exercises, you have to pay or go to their website.

Apps work out great and it worths the matter paying for them...you even learn Chinese!
